Food!

I have Pop-tarts, (Hot Fudge Sundae) and the ingredients are... interesting. I counted about 30 chemical ingredients out of the 34 ingredients. I feel like it is probably as processed as it comes. I knew Pop-tarts weren't that healthy, but I didn't know they were about 88% unnatural. I do admit that I was looking for what I thought would be the most unnatural food, and I think I may have found it or close to it.

I don't eat as healthy as I should because my house is a very junk food oriented. My New Years resolution was to actually attempt to eat more healthily. I am trying but it can be difficult because I am more of a fruit eater than a veggie eater though; I am picky! Wish me luck on my resolution!

  1. I think it is obvious to most that a pop tart is not a healthy food, but still I am surprised to hear that it is almost entirely composed of chemicals. I have to say that I am not one to read food labels. Ever. But the chemical to natural ratio of 30/4 makes me curious about what I have been eating all of these years. Still (and I know it's sad) I don't think it will stop me from having a pop tart once in a while!

    Good luck on your resolution!

  2. I love poptarts... that said, yuck! haha, I find it amazing how knowing what's in things people will still eat the items anyways! (like me...) I was in a class once where the teacher handed us each a reeces pieces. He then read aloud statistics about what may have ended up inside the candy... insects, rat feces, etc (not to mention all the processed sugars, oils, and preservatives) and then he asked if we would still eat it knowing that. It was amazing how many people in the class opened the candy immediately and popped it into their mouth!
I think a huge reason why people don't seem to care about what they eat is because they don't see the benefits to eating healthy.

  3. Oh my goodness, 88% unnatural!? That is a little frightening. To think how much food has evolved over the years. It makes me wonder what our children will be eating in the next few years! I do understand how much more convenient it is to eat the already made, processed food, but "real" food just makes us feel so much better. I, too, am working on eating healthier this year. It takes a lot of effort, but we will thank ourselves later! Good luck!!
